"Why would anyone want to do a boudoir shoot?"

You may have noticed the headline of this blog is in quotes. That's because I've had this said to me a few times in my career as a boudoir photographer.

People are.... interesting. Sometimes people say it with genuine curiosity! If you are one of those people, this blog is for you!

To those who ask it with less kind intentions, kindly see yourself out.

...ok, now that they've left. ;) Let's get into it.

There are many reasons a woman would choose to do a boudoir shoot, I will share with you the top reasons I have heard over the last 6+ years of my career as a boudoir photographer:

Self-Love and Empowerment should not be put on the back burner!

This is one of my favorite reasons! Many women choose boudoir photography simply as a way to boost their self-esteem and body confidence. I see it every day! That woman who came in shy and full of self-doubt walks out of my boudoir studio feeling like a rockstar!

Anniversary or Special Occasions are a great excuse for a session.

Boudoir shoots are often booked as a surprise for a partner's birthday, anniversary, or as a wedding gift. We all know our partners (especially men!) can be so hard to shop for... so why not give him a gift that will knock his socks off AND boost your self-esteem!

Brides-to-be often book boudoir shoots as a part of their wedding preparations. It's a wonderful way to capture the excitement and anticipation leading up to the big day.

Give yourself the gift of a boudoir session.

Celebrating a milestone birthday, like turning 30, 40, or 50, and so on, with a boudoir shoot is not only fun but empowering! Life ebbs and flows and it's important to see yourself as the sexy and confident woman you are, and always have been, no matter what your age!

Also, as someone who has done photos in my 20s, then early 30s, and recently my late 30s... it truly is incredible to look back on them all. They each evoke different feelings in me and serve as a reminder that I do "still got it."

Above all else it has served me with the reminder that we all need to stop being so damn hard on ourselves!

Celebrate your body transformation!

Women who have undergone significant body transformations, such as weight loss or gain, pre or post-pregnancy, or even recovering from or battling an illness.

These are a few reasons women have stepped into my studio to learn to embrace their ever-changing bodies. It's a way to celebrate their journey and learn to really see themselves without the fog of those negative stories we all tell ourselves getting in the way!

Life can really get in our way sometimes, can't it?

Overcoming personal challenges or adversity can lead to a sense of empowerment. Or maybe you're struggling to feel empowered because of the challenges life has sent your way!

Maybe it was a toxic relationship, illness, or struggles with self-esteem.... Self-love and confidence and be the ultimate healer!

Reconnecting with Sensuality:

Some women book boudoir shoots to reconnect with their sensuality and explore a different side of themselves. I know after I had my 3rd baby, I was really struggling to see myself as anything more than "just a mom." So I did what I knew worked, scheduled a boudoir session, and honestly, they are my favorite photos of myself to this day!

Just Because... why NOT treat yourself to a boudoir shoot?

Last but not least! Some women book boudoir shoots "just because." It's a fun and liberating experience, and there's no need for a specific reason other than wanting to celebrate themselves and indulge in a little Naples, Florida boudoir fun!

Remember, the beauty of boudoir photography lies in its ability to help women feel empowered, confident, and beautiful, regardless of their motivations. It's all about celebrating individuality and embracing self-love... no matter what the reason is! 😊
